Vodafone Holds Week-Long Activities to Mark International Women’s Day

Vodafone Qatar organized a week-long celebration to mark International Women’s Day on the 8 March. The event brought together all female employees to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.

Vodafone Qatar held two ‘Power Hour’ sessions with its top female managers who shared their inspirational career stories and the professional experiences, which helped to shape their leadership skills and career objectives.

On a global level, Vodafone Foundation has pioneered a new toll-free emergency line - alongside its NGO partners, Pathfinder International, Touch Foundation, and the U.S Agency for International Development (USAID). The service has been launched in districts in Tanzania where maternal and infant mortality rates believed to be among highest in the world. A mobile application has also been developed for Tanzinian community health workers, which lists more than 10,000 pregnant women and identifies those who are high-risk cases.

In addition, The Vodafone Foundation has actively supported maternal health in Tanzania since 2010. As part of the Vodafone Foundation’s Connecting for Good Program, Vodafone partnered with the Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation Tanzania (CCBRT) and various NGOs to help cure women who suffer from obstetric fistula.
