The minister was accompanied on his visit by the Ambassador of Tunisia to the State of Qatar, H.E. Mr. Salah Al Salhi, and officials from both Qatar and Tunisia.

The minister’s visit comes within the context of an ongoing collaboration between Tunisian education institutions and WISE, highlighted by the WISE@Tunis Forum ‘Dialogue for Education and Peace’ held in May 2016. The Tunis gathering focused on the role of education in fostering peace and development, particularly in the aftermath of the Arab Spring.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Jalloul gave the WISE team a short description of the education system in Tunisia, noting his country’s long historical legacy as a bridge between East and West. He said Tunisia had in recent years pursued a universal perspective on education, reintroducing the arts and raising the quality of education substantially.

Mr. Stavros Yiannouka, CEO of WISE, presented the minister with a selection of WISE research publications and spoke with him of WISE’s desire to continue to collaborate with Tunisia in its education reform efforts.
